About Me

I have become a home inspector in order to assist people in their decision-making regarding the purchase of a home.  My report is thorough and unbiased. I provide an honest, quality report. My previous 32-year career as a police officer has given me the experience in writing such reports.

I grew up in the construction industry, as my father was a contractor in Elliot Lake, and I worked along with him until I was in my late teens. I also worked in the industry off and on until I joined the Ontario Provincial Police.

During my career as a police officer I spent 10 years in the criminal investigation field, taking such courses as Fraud Investigation and Arson Investigation, which taught me more about the renovation and construction industry. In these courses I learned about renovation scams; structure, electrical and plumbing and how they work, and how they can be tampered with. I also kept my hand in construction, doing mostly basement renovations and various other renovations.  I’ve built my own cottage, as well as an addition on my in-law’s cottage.

Since my retirement from the OPP, I have taken courses in Home Inspection, including the Home Inspectors course through Stratford Career Institute, which I completed with honours.  I’ve also taken courses through NACHI, the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors.  I’ve completed all requirements and have been accepted as a member of InterNachi, the international branch of NACHI.

I am a Certified Home Inspector.

With InterNACHI, I am also required to continue my education on an ongoing basis.

In my new career as a home inspector, my primary goal is to treat my clients with respect and listen to their concerns.  In return, I provide them with a top quality inspection and report. I take the time to explain my findings and walk my clients through the inspection process.  I never rush through an inspection.  I am meticulous, and test all components I have ready access to.  No home inspector will be able to find all of the problems within a home, as not all areas of the home are readily accessible to the inspector.

I believe the client should be present during the home inspection so they can be shown my findings first hand. AFTER ALL, I WORK FOR YOU. I am always available for further calls, to assist the client in making their decision.

As a dedicated inspector associated with InterNACHI (International Association of Certified Home Inspectors) I am required to follow the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice set out by NACHI, to ensure my clients get a fair and honest inspection.

I welcome your questions at any time and look forward to working for you
